I had the opportunity to travel to Los Angeles this past weekend to attend the GoodFest, a wellness event all about balanced health!
It had been soooo long since I’ve been to downtown LA (oh, apparently it’s called DTLA now), and I actually used to work there years ago and then got my first graduate degree at the University of Southern California. At that time, you wouldn’t have thought of having an event there, let alone walking around on the weekend and finding lots of fun stuff to do. How things have changed. The city is still in transition and I saw lots of homeless people in very dire straits, but I also saw a beautiful new natural foods market, so many amazing living spaces, and, of course, the event!
What is the GoodFest? I had not heard of either, but then read a blog post from my online friend Jordan Younger with the news that she would be speaking on a panel. I immediately bought a ticket and I’m so glad I did!
I got to hear Jordan speak on a Food Freedom panel (we have the shared experience of having been vegan and then not vegan, and both had to deal with the aftermath of the vegan community that was resistant to that change), and then we got to meet in person, finally!!!
Jordan is doing so many cool things now, and I absolutely love her podcast for her unique perspective on healing and spirituality. She is truly a gem.
The day started off with açaí bowls and dairy-free matcha lattes, so I was very much in my element, ha ha.
Gorgeous cold-pressed juices for refreshment.
A yoga session in the late morning was so great, too.
One of the other highlights, and maybe even my favorite session, was the keynote speech from Lauryn Evarts of the Skinny Confidential. I absolutely loved the business tips from Lauryn and her husband, Michael, and left the event feeling super inspired to grow my business and achieve my mission of inspiring other women to take control of their health. Isn’t it great when you meet someone who gives you that healthy kick in the pants you need? That’s what I got from these two.
The swag bags were also pretty epic, they were almost too heavy with goodies. My shoulder was so sore from carrying around the bag all day. Here are just a few of the items I brought home.
What a fun day! I got to meet so many amazing women, many so much younger than me, but we all seemed to share the interest in holistic health. I’ll be interviewing one of the co-founders of the event also in an upcoming episode of Clean Eating for Women podcast, so I can’t wait to share that with you.
Let me know in the comments if you know of any other events like this scheduled for 2018. I’d love to meet you at one!
