Since so many people are trying out clean eating diets this year, I thought it would be fun to share my dairy-free morning routine.
I have three great SilkⓇ products that are full of dairy-free deliciousness to share with you today. The products include:
- Silk Half Gallon Unsweetened Vanilla Cashew Milk
- Silk Vanilla Almond Creamer
- Silk Almond Milk Strawberry Yogurt Alternative
I found all three items at Vons grocery. My Vons store is incredibly well stocked, and it was interesting to see that the creamer and cashew milk were in their own case just for plant-based milks and creamers. The yogurt was in a different aisle with only yogurt. Plus, right now you can save on Silk products at Vons! Click below to save at your local store.
I have the Vons app on my phone to get notified of current coupons.
What is Dairy-Free?
Since eggs and milk products often are in the same area in the grocery store, some people think that dairy-free is egg-free but it’s not. Eggs might be sold in the same space as milk, but eggs are not considered dairy.
Foods containing dairy include butter, dairy yogurts, dairy milks, cheese, ice cream, sour cream, whey protein powder, cottage cheese, frozen yogurts, and more.
My Dairy-Free Routine
As I mentioned, I’m 100% dairy-free. I’ve been following this diet for about eight years now, and it’s just gotten easier and easier with so many products available. Read more about the benefits of going dairy free and how it’s part of my PCOS diet.
Let’s talk about how I incorporate dairy-free foods into my life. I want to know about your dairy-free favorites, too!
Smoothies, Cereal, & Granola
I’m a huge fan of breakfast foods, and I always start my day with a green smoothie or some kind of cold cereal. I make my smoothies with a dairy-free milk base, and Silk cashew milk is a good choice.
My smoothie ingredients look like this:
- Dairy-free milk
- Frozen banana or mango
- Raw or steamed leafy greens
- Frozen berries
- Cocoa powder, protein powder, and ground cinnamon
When I want something different, I’ll just pour a bowl of granola and top it with my dairy-free milk.
I like to skip the sugar when I can and choose the unsweetened vanilla flavor.
One of my favorite times of the day is after I finish breakfast and I have a few minutes to enjoy a hot beverage. Whether it’s coffee or tea, I always add some dairy-free creamer for an ultra smooth taste.
I love sitting on my living room sofa and enjoying my hot drink. This is usually when I end up with a kitty on my lap as an added bonus!
The 2nd half of my morning routine is to get some movement. I’ll either go to the gym or for a walk. Since I’m an early bird and eat breakfast by 7 am, I usually need a snack after my workout.
That’s when I turn to dairy-free yogurt for a quick and easy option.
How do you incorporate dairy-free living into your morning routine? Are there parts of your routine where you get stuck?
