Fresh figs in the summertime are such a treat, but dried figs also make a great treat. And, dried figs make the perfect ingredient for these Chocolate Fig Bars.

This is seriously one of the easiest dessert recipes you’ll ever make. All you need are dried figs, pumpkin seeds, coconut oil, and chocolate chips.

Key Ingredients

The ingredients for these no-bake bars are simple and straightforward.

Dried figs make the base and add sweetness.

Pumpkin seeds add texture and coconut oil holds everything together.

Chocolate chips gets melted to make a solid chocolate layer on top of the bars.

Recipe Steps

Step One

Prep your dried figs by cutting off the stem and slicing them in half. This will make it easier for your food processor to blend the figs with the other ingredients.

Step Two

Combine the figs, seeds, and coconut oil in the base of a food processor. I really like the Breville Sous Chef. For a more budget-friendly food processor, try the Cuisinart.

Process the ingredients until they start to break down and stick together, about 30-45 seconds.

Step Three

Next, pour the mixture from the food processor into a baking dish lightly sprayed with nonstick cooking spray.

Step Four

The next step is to melt a cup of chocolate chips in the microwave (see my notes in the recipe card at the end of this post) and spread out the melted chocolate on top.

Then, place the bars in the freezer so the chocolate topping can harden.

Step Five

It really only takes about 10 minutes for the chocolate topping to harden. Remove the dish from the freezer, slice, and serve.

No-Bake Chocolate Fig Bars

If you need a quick and easy dessert recipe, then you’ve got to try these No-Bake Chocolate Fig Bars. This vegan and gluten-free recipe only has four ingredients. They are chocolatey, chewy, and so delicious!

  • Total Time: 25 minutes
  • Yield: 12 1x

Ingredients

Units Scale
  • Nonstick cooking spray
  • 1 cup dried figs
  • 1 cup and 1 teaspoon pumpkin seeds
  • 1 tablespoon coconut oil
  • 1 cup and 1 teaspoon dairy-free chocolate chips

Instructions

  1. Lightly spray an 8-inch square glass baking dish with non-stick cooking spray and set aside.
  2. Prep your dried figs by cutting off the stem and slicing them in half. This will make it easier for your food processor to blend the figs with the other ingredients.
  3. Combine the chopped figs, 1 cup pumpkin seeds, and coconut oil in the base of a food processor. Pulse on high for about 1 minute, or until the ingredients have combined.
  4. Transfer the mixture from the food processor into the baking dish and then use your hands to press the mixture firmly and evenly into the glass baking dish.
  5. Next, melt 1 cup of the chocolate chips in a double-boiler or in the microwave. If you use the microwave, use a glass bowl and heat the chocolate chips in 30 second intervals, stopping to stir every 30 seconds. It will take about 2 minutes total to melt the chocolate chips in the microwave.
  6. Pour the melted chocolate over the mixture in the glass bowl and use a spatula to spread the chocolate evenly over the bars. Sprinkle on the extra pumpkin seeds and chocolate chips on top.
  7. Place the bars in the freezer for 10 minutes for the chocolate to harden.
  8. Slice the bars and serve them chilled.

Notes

  1. Store any leftovers in a covered container in the refrigerator for up 5 days.
  2. Be sure to use dairy-free chocolate chips to keep this recipe vegan and dairy-free.
