Happy Halloween!!! I can’t believe it’s already the last day of October. Since time seems to be flying, I thought I’d do one of these more personal posts featuring pictures and thoughts from the month.
Speaking of personal, have you noticed I stopped doing the weekly “what I ate” posts? I don’t know why the trend went away, but I stopped participating too. LMK if you want me to bring those back.
Here’s what else is new around here. We had a heat wave that just. wouldn’t. quit. It was 103F a week ago! I guess I shouldn’t complain since folks around the country have had hurricanes, wildfires, and now rainstorms. But, I am complaining, it was really hot. Once the heat broke, I made my way back to the beach to enjoy the natural beauty of California’s Central Coast.
I put this picture on Instagram and friends commented how happy I look. I am happy! Especially it’s when it’s 70F and I’m outside at the beach.
I also have reason to celebrate. October 14th was the 5th-year anniversary of having my cancerous thyroid removed. I like having this milestone behind me. It’s not a guarantee, but it feels significant to me. I also celebrated my b-day, but I got a migraine that day so it wasn’t very fun.
On October 16th, I released my podcast. I’m proud I finally did it. It’s scary and makes me feel vulnerable to put myself out there, but it’s also another way I can connect authentically with you. You can see the podcast index so far here. 600 downloads so far is v. cool:
I did a Facebook Live about the podcast and someone asked about my kittens. They’re HUGE, almost 10 pounds each. Here’s little guy Dash now at almost 11 months old. He’s a kitten in a big boy body meaning that he has a ton of energy and has been quite the challenge as he is an indoor-only cat. See baby pictures in this post; I can’t believe I used to hold Dash and Dottie, his twin sister, in one hand.
Speaking of Facebook, I have a FB-based giveaway happening to help promote my podcast. It’s from one of my show sponsors that is offering a bag of collagen protein and a turmeric supplement. It’s has a value of almost $100; you can check that one out here. One winner will be picked at random at the end of the week.
What else? I told you I got a pressure cooker and I’m still getting to know it and trying different foods. I’ve had the most luck with potatoes (see my sweet potato mash recipe), but I’ve also made some yummy stews. I saw online that you can even make a cake in a pressure cooker! Tell me if you’ve tried this!
Tomatoes showed up on my latest food sensitivity testing (my next podcast episode is all about food sensitivity testing), so I can only “look but don’t touch” at this beautiful display at the farmers’ market I went to in Santa Barbara a few weeks ago.
Those were all the interesting things I wanted to tell you. I hope you thought they were interesting? Maybe not! Tell me what’s new with you. I have a new recipe coming up in a few days, so I look forward to connecting with you again then.
