I had to make a quick trip to Los Angeles last week. Specifically, I visited Pasadena, a city near and dear to my heart as I lived there for a few years after college and before and during business school, in addition to it being the place where my man and I met and fell in love, oh, a mere 16 years ago (!).
The trip started off with a chia pudding breakfast made with homemade almond milk and these Navitas superfoods <—just added them to my Amazon.com store:
I made the pudding for me (on the left) and overnight oats (on the right) for him the night before:
Soaked and stirred:
All ready in the fridge for an early morning:
My serving included wild blueberries and about half of a banana, and a strong cuppa black tea to get me going (my online buddy Rachel made a very similar breakfast recently):
Lunch in Pasadena included a meet-up at the vegan and macrobiotic-inspired Real Food Daily with my blogging twin Lynn Chen of The Actor’s Diet (she had the kale salad and I had the crispy tempeh tacos):
Such fun to catch up:
Alan and I squeezed in a visit to the Huntington Library & Gardens:
After such a busy day, we found ourselves back at RFD for more plant-based replenishment. This time, I had the stir-fry served with pineapple fried rice and tempeh:
He had the crispy tacos:
Dessert was called for…how can you refuse such a beautiful display with tons of gluten-free options?:
I had the Sweet Potato Pudding topped with pecans, vegan marshmallows, and coconut ice cream:
He had the gluten-free Chocolate Cake…no, we do not share dessert in our family, ha ha:
I adore short trips away from home…just enough of a break from my everyday routine mixed with treats, interesting places to see, and special time with friends <—-the best part. 🙂
Happy WIAW to ‘ya! (See all my previous photo food journals here).
