Hello from my summer travels! I’m on my way back from Greenland to Iceland where my journey will end, but I wanted to share some pictures from the first leg that included London, Dublin, and the Faroe Islands. I hope you’re staying cool and enjoying these last days of summer. I’ve heard about the heat wave in many parts of the US and I wish I could send you some of this ice-y weather from the Arctic Circle.
I actually got about 5-6 hours of sleep on the flight over, and was so excited when we landed in London. It had been 16 years since my last visit.
We actually had a decent amount of energy despite the 9 hour time difference, so we squeezed as much sight-seeing in as possible in the 2 1/2 days we stayed in London.
You can see from the skies that the London weather was cool and gray, but that made the top level of the sight-seeing bus more fun.
I had no problem finding healthy foods to eat in London. My fav restaurant was just a short walk from the hotel was called the Natural Kitchen. I got juices on two different days, including this Beet Ginger one:
And a Cucumber Lemon one:
This stacked salad with veggies and grilled chicken was really amazing:
The time difference definitely caught up to me after a few days, plus I ended up getting a mild cold, probably from the airplane. Ugh! It actually didn’t slow me down that much, though, thank goodness.
We found prettier weather once we boarded our cruise ship and made our first stop in Dublin. This picture is from Powerscourt Gardens:
We also visited an 8th century monastery outside the city called Glendalough:
Our next stop after Dublin was the Faroe Islands, a place I never knew existed until now. It ended up being one of the most magical and beautiful locations I’ve ever seen. What a remote, amazing, and fascinating place.
I can’t wait to share my pictures from Greenland and Iceland after we get back next week. Have you visited any of these places? Wish me safe travels home and I’m sending the same to you if you’re currently away from home.
