I got to spend a week on Maui in January and thought it was time I shared my pictures. Honestly, the weather was so lovely that I was ready to go back as soon as we got home. So, as I write this after what feels like weeks of cold and rain here in California, we can both dream about our next tropical vacation!
The morning that Alan and I left for Maui, it was raining so hard that two of the four runways in San Francisco were closed. I was convinced that the flight would be cancelled or delayed, but my worries disappeared when we were only slightly delayed and on our way. 5 1/2 hours later and we were in paradise.
We stayed on the Wailea side of Maui and discovered new beaches we hadn’t seen before:
The swimming pool wasn’t bad, either:
We walked every morning in the most perfect of settings:
Why does food taste so much better on vacation?! We stayed at a resort that had great gluten- and dairy-free options, like this muesli with green juice on the side:
A chickpea pancake with hummus, avocado, and cashew crema:
Warm quinoa porridge served with coconut yogurt on the side, plus another green juice:
Fresh papaya with lime and, you guessed it, a green juice:
A vegan sushi snack found at the Down to Earth health food store:
Plus, fresh fish cooked with so much yummy garlic and tomatoes at Longhi’s Wailea:
Fresh fish tacos with tomatillo sauce at Longhi’s Kaanapali:
Passionfruit and coconut chocolate chip locally-made gelato at Ono Gelato Kihei:
Locally-made Pono Pie made with breadfruit and passionfruit found at Hawaiian Moons Natural Foods in Kihei. Best. Dessert. Ever. I also had the chocolate and sweet potato flavors. Lilikoi is passionfruit flavor and is no ka’oi (the best, ha):
Every restaurant should look like Longhi’s in Kaanapali:
A happy and relaxed me:
Pink is my fav color of hibiscus:
Red tropical flowers are pretty nice too:
There is a reason why Maui is considered the most romantic and lovely place on earth. At least, I think so!
I now believe in vacations and am already ready for my next one. Who’s with me?
