Hashimoto's is a common autoimmune disease that affects millions of people around the world. While there is no one-size-fits-all approach to managing the condition, avoiding certain foods can be helpful.

Gluten can trigger an immune reaction that can cause damage to the lining of the small intestine, which is more likely if you have Hashimoto’s.


A 2014 study showed that a higher percentage of people with Hashimoto's are lactose intolerant when compared to the general population.


Eating too much sugar can make it difficult to manage Hashimoto’s because it is known to cause inflammation in the intestines.
