This Lemon Ginger Turmeric Tea recipe is an anti-inflammatory and aromatic hot drink using flavorful and fresh ingredients. It’s perfect for a relaxing evening or as an immune-boosting drink when you’re feeling under the weather.

  • Total Time: 15 Minutes
  • Yield: 4 Servings 1x

Ingredients

Units Scale
  • 4 cups of water (use filtered water to avoid any chlorine flavor)
  • 1 1-inch piece of fresh turmeric root
  • 1 1-inch piece of fresh ginger root
  • 1/2 lemon, juiced
  • 14 teaspoons of honey (optional, for sweetness)
  • A pinch of ground black pepper (optional, to help your body absorb the turmeric)

Instructions

  1. In a large pot or saucepan, bring 4 cups of water to a simmer.
  2. While the water is coming up to a simmer, use the back of a spoon or a vegetable peeler to peel the turmeric and ginger roots. Then, use a knife to slice the turmeric and ginger root pieces thinly.
  3. Carefully add the turmeric and ginger to the pot. Simmer for 10 minutes and then turn off the heat.
  4. Use a strainer to remove the ginger and turmeric pieces from the hot water.
  5. Lastly, stir in the honey (optional) and black pepper (optional) and serve hot.

Notes

  1. You can cut this recipe in half to make fewer servings.
  2. You can store any leftover tea in a covered container or jar in the refrigerator for up to 4 days. Reheat before serving.
