Recipe Tips

  • You can cut this recipe in half to make fewer servings.
  • You can store any leftover tea in a covered container or jar in the refrigerator for up to 4 days. Reheat before serving.
  • This recipe is very versatile! Don’t have fresh ingredients? You can use ground ginger or ground turmeric powder as well. You can also add a dash of cayenne pepper if you have a sore throat (don’t use too much). Or, try adding a pinch of black pepper to help your body absorb the turmeric.
  • If you want a more energizing version of this recipe, feel free to add a green tea bag or two to the pot. Green tea also has medicinal properties and can act as a powerful antioxidant.

Weight Loss Tea Substitutions

This tea can be adapted for help with weight loss. Leave out the honey and add 1-2 tablespoons of apple cider vinegar instead. Stir in the vinegar just before serving and enjoy this tea before meals.

Apple cider vinegar doesn’t have a ton of evidence linking it with weight loss, but there is some research showing that it may help reduce blood sugar. Combining this “detox tea” with a low calorie diet and appropriate exercise will likely help with healthy weight management, especially if you consume this tea instead of sugar-sweetened coffee drinks or sodas.
