The air fryer is such a versatile appliance but it really sings with roasted vegetables. You can easily crisp up the outside of the vegetables while the insides cook through, usually in less time than the oven. It’s especially great for frozen vegetables which are more prone to getting mushy if you cook them wrong.

Frozen brussel sprouts are a cinch to cook in the air fryer. They’re great for a busy weeknight or if you love to meal prep! They last in the freezer for up to a year while fresh ones can go bad in a few days. Not only does this eliminate waste, but it means you always have the ingredients for a delicious veggie side dish.

Why You Need This Recipe

  • Frozen vegetables are often much cheaper than fresh. On top of that you can often find them on sale which makes them even more budget-friendly. See more of my tips on how to eat clean on a budget.
  • There’s very little prep work. No need to cut off the stems or cut them up all you have to do is pour them into the air fryer and wait.
  • Brussel sprouts are low in calories and high in fiber. They’re especially rich in Vitamin K which is essential for strong and healthy bones.

Key Ingredients

Frozen Brussel sprouts – You can find them in the freezer section with the rest of the frozen veggies. Be sure to buy a bag of plain Brussel sprouts and not the ones in a butter sauce. As an added bonus frozen brussels sprouts actually cook more evenly than fresh which often vary in size and have stray leaves.

Olive oil – This will encourage the outsides of the brussel sprouts to crisp up nicely. You can also use ghee, coconut oil, or avocado oil if you don’t have any olive oil.

Sea salt & pepper – Never underestimate the power of salt and black pepper. Seasoning the air fryer brussel sprouts is essential to a flavorful and tasty roasted vegetable.

Balsamic vinegar – A little brightness and acidity from the balsamic vinegar really takes these veggies over the top! Delicious is an understatement.
