Frozen hamburgers taste great in the air fryer and cook in just about 15 minutes.

The best part is you don’t have to deal with a greasy mess on your cooktop and you get a juicy evenly cooked burger every single time. It also means you don’t need to have fresh ground beef on hand.

Keep hamburger patties and buns in the freezer and you will always be minutes away from a delicious burger. I hope your family loves these air fryer tasty hamburgers as much as mine does!

Why You Need This Recipe

  • You can have perfectly cooked hamburgers in a short amount of time. Low maintenance recipes are absolutely the best.
  • Pan-fried hamburgers tend to spit grease everywhere. When you cook them in the air fryer all the mess stays in the air fryer.
  • Hamburgers are totally customizable. You can add any type of cheese once it comes out for a cheeseburger or you can get creative with the toppings. Add sliced avocado, pineapple, bacon, buffalo sauce, pesto, fried eggs, pickled red onions, grilled peppers, sun dried tomatoes, or mushrooms.

Key Ingredients

Frozen hamburger patties don’t even need to be thawed before going into the air fryer. Buy your favorite brand or make your own beef patties and freeze.

For paleo and sustainable diets, choose 100% grass-fed patties.

Don’t use fake meat (see my related article on the dangers of plant-based meat).

Please see the recipe card at the end of this post for the exact ingredients and measurements.

Recipe Steps

Step One

Place the frozen hamburger patties inside your air fryer basket without overlapping.

For most air fryers, this will be around 2 to 3 patties, but that can vary depending on the size of the air fryer basket and the size of the burgers.

Step Two

Set the temperature to 375°F for 7 minutes.

Step Three

At the 7 minute mark, open the air fryer basket drawer and use a spatula to gently flip the burger over once during the cooking process.

Cook the patties for an additional 6-7 minutes, or until they are cooked through. For best results, you can always use an instant read thermometer (or meat thermometer) to ensure they have reached a minimum temperature of 160 degrees F.

Serve your juicy burger immediately with your choice of hamburger buns, lettuce wrap, a slice of cheese, tater tots, or French fries (I highly recommend these Air Fryer Sweet Potato Wedges). Or, serve your juicing air fryer hamburgers with your favorite toppings.

I hope your agree that these delicious hamburgers are perfect when made in the air fryer. It’s surprising that a frozen hamburger patty can transform into juicy hamburgers!

Recipe FAQs

Are air fryer frozen hamburgers gluten-free?

Always check the labels and ingredients list on the frozen patties you purchase. The ingredients should only be beef but some have added flavors or ingredients.

Can I make air fryer hamburgers from defrosted beef?

Yes, absolutely! Here’s my recipe for regular Air Fryer Hamburgers which are fresh beef burgers.

What’s the key to making a good burger in the air fryer?

The key is to not overcook the burgers, whether you’re cooking them from frozen or making them fresh. Air fryer burgers should be cooked through but not dry and overcooked. Use a thermometer to check the internal temperature of the burgers before serving.
