Air Fryer Roasted Red Potatoes Cooked Whole (Crispy)
Use your air fryer to make these tender and flavorful whole roasted baby potatoes. This is the perfect side dish for any dinner, including the holidays. Everyone loves Air Fryer Red Potatoes that are crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside.
The air fryer can be used to cook almost anything, but it really works its convectional magic with potatoes. With crispy outsides and creamy centers, you won’t be able to resist these perfectly seasoned potatoes!
Did I mention they’re easy and affordable too (see all of my tips for how to eat clean on a budget)?
I like using baby potatoes because you don’t even have to cut them up. All they really need for amazing flavor is some olive oil and spices, then into the air fryer they go.
And, since potatoes are so versatile, you can serve them alongside breakfast, lunch, or dinner! They’re also perfect for holidays or family gatherings to save on valuable oven space.
Air Fryer Red Potato Recipe Benefits
- Prep is super easy! You basically just toss the potatoes with olive oil and spices then dump them into your air fryer.
- Potatoes are a very affordable and nutritious vegetable. You can use red skin potatoes, small red potatoes, or really any type of potato for this recipe.
- Air fried potatoes are gluten-free, dairy-free, vegan, and Whole30-friendly!
Key Ingredients
- Red potatoes or any color of baby potatoes – Baby potatoes are just smaller versions of regular potatoes. They’re little potatoes! They’ve been picked early instead of letting them reach full size (sometimes they are called new potatoes). They’re the perfect size for roasting which means you don’t need to cut them. Potatoes stay good on the counter for two weeks so I like to buy them whenever they go on sale and use them within that timeframe. You can use red or golden baby potatoes. You can also use fingerling potatoes which tend to be small.
- Olive oil – Olive oil is a heart-healthy oil perfect for roasting veggies.
- You can use another neutral oil if you don’t have olive oil on hand. See my list of the safest cooking oils.
- Seasoning – Garlic powder, paprika, sea salt, and black pepper are simple seasonings that pack a lot of flavor punch. I always have them on hand and they taste great together. You can use whatever spices or spice blends you like best. Italian seasoning, onion powder, or any other dried herb like rosemary, oregano, or thyme are other great choices.

Recipe Tips
- You can double this recipe as long as your air fryer is large enough.
- If you prefer to cut your potatoes in half, then you can reduce the cook time to just 16-18 minutes.
- Roasted potatoes also taste great with toppings! Serve with ranch dressing, sour cream, butter, bacon, chives, shredded cheese, Parmesan cheese, fresh herbs, or hot sauce if you love toppings.
- Check to see if you’re potatoes are pre-washed. You won’t need to wash and dry them if they’re already washed.
- Try to fry the potatoes so they finish around the time you eat. If they sit for too long they will lose some of their crispy texture. If you do have leftover potatoes, store them in an airtight container for up to 4 days.
Recipe FAQs
Roasted potatoes go with almost any main dish but here are a few ideas. Serve with meatloaf, grilled chicken, fried eggs, grilled steak, pot roast, or salmon for a cozy dinner. These baby potatoes would also make an excellent side for Thanksgiving or Christmas dinner.
You can reheat in the microwave until warmed through. Or you can reheat in the air fryer at 400 degrees until hot and crisp – about 3 to 4 minutes.
I find 400 degrees Fahrenheit to be the perfect temperature. It crisps up the outsides perfectly.
Yes, you can use baby red potatoes, baby gold or white potatoes, Yukon gold, yellow potatoes, new potatoes, or fingerling potatoes for this recipe. Russet potatoes are larger than other types of potatoes, so you might consider cutting them into quarters.
