Juicy turkey burgers are the perfect alternative to beef burgers with less saturated fat. Fresh ground turkey makes for a quick dinner and a super flavorful burger.
Top your air fryer burgers with avocado, red onion, and turkey bacon for a delicious burger packed with protein and healthy fats. Almond flour binds the patties together in place of bread crumbs.
Why You Need This Recipe
- These air-fryer turkey burgers are grain-free, gluten-free, and so easy to throw together in a short amount of time.
- Turkey burgers can be served on a gluten-free bun. Or, for a low-carb option, serve the burgers wrapped in lettuce, on a salad, or on top of spiralized zucchini noodles.
- You can meal prep these burgers and re-heat them throughout the week. Or, freeze the cooked burgers and serve them at a later date.
- Make a sauce for your burger using any of my favorite gluten-free sauces.
Key Ingredients
- Lean ground turkey is a healthy but juicy and delicious alternative to ground beef.
- Almond flour keeps the turkey burger tender and moist.
- Egg helps bind together all the ingredients.
- Seasonings like garlic powder, black pepper, and sea salt give the patty additional flavor.
Please see the recipe card at the end of this post for the exact ingredients and measurements.
Recipe Steps
Step One
Spray the basket of an air-fryer with nonstick cooking spray.
Step Two
In a large bowl, mix all the ingredients together with your hands and form 4 patties from the meat mixture.
Please see the recipe card at the end of this post for the exact ingredients and measurements.
Step Three
Place the patties in a single layer in the air fryer basket and cook for 12 to 14 minutes or until the internal temperature on an instant-read thermometer or a meat thermometer reads 165 degrees Fahrenheit.
Step Four
Serve your healthy turkey burgers with your choice of bun (or lettuce wrap) and toppings. Some people like to add fresh onion, lettuce, cheese, barbecue sauce, or Worcestershire sauce.
Recipe Tips
- For best results, use 93% lean turkey for these burgers. 99% extra lean turkey will not have nearly as much flavor.
- Feel free to substitute your favorite flour or breadcrumbs for the almond flour.
- If you have a small air-fryer, you may need to cook the turkey burgers in two batches. If so, place the cooked burgers on a plate and cover them with foil to keep them warm while the others cook.
- If you want to wrap your burger in lettuce, use a flexible lettuce like iceberg, butter lettuce, or Boston Bibb.
- You can also freeze these ground turkey burgers. Once you have formed the patties, layer them in parchment paper and freeze them for up to 2 months in a zip-top bag. Then, cook them from frozen.

Followed the recipe but was surprised to find the mixture very wet and difficult to shape. Can’t imagine what was going on – have a clue?
Interesting! Have you baked them yet? The extra moisture shouldn’t be a problem. It might just be a variation in the turkey. Was it frozen and defrosted? You can always add an extra tablespoon of almond flour to provide more structure if you like.
I made these last week and enjoyed them for lunch in several different ways: on a bun, on a salad, and with zucchini noodles. Yum!
