Key Ingredients
Corn tortillas are gluten-free and inexpensive. You can use yellow corn tortillas or white corn tortillas (whatever type of corn tortillas you can find at the grocery store is fine).
Taco seasoning has a delicious flavor profile and you can adjust the spice to your needs. If you don’t already have some on hand, I recommend using the seasoning from these Mexican Potatoes. Or, just use a sprinkle of chili powder.
Olive oil has a great flavor and helps promote browning. You only need a little oil for this tortilla chip recipe.
Recipe Steps
Step One
Spray tortillas with oil and stack evenly. You can also use a pastry brush or olive oil spray to apply the oil.
Please see the recipe card at the end of this post for the exact ingredients and measurements.

Cut tortillas into triangles using a sharp knife.
Step Three
Season tortilla chips with salt, taco seasoning, or other desired flavors.

Recipe FAQs
If you aren’t gluten-free, feel free to give them a try. They often are sweeter than corn tortillas, which might not pair well with the seasoning. They are also usually thicker and might take longer to cook.
I recommend olive oil or coconut oil, and avocado oil would also be a good choice. There are some great brands like Chosen Foods that have sprayers of just oil without propellants. You can also use a sprayer you fill on your own.

Air Fryer Corn Tortilla Chips
These Air Fryer Corn Tortilla Chips are crispy, delicious, and naturally gluten-free! These chips are baked and not fried. This recipe is easy and budget-friendly.
- Total Time: 18 minutes
- Yield: 4 servings 1x
Ingredients
- 4 corn tortillas
- Nonstick cooking spray (I like using a coconut oil or olive oil-based cooking spray)
- 1/2 teaspoon sea salt
- 1/2 teaspoon taco seasoning (optional, for a spicy flavor)
- Salsa and/or guacamole (optional, for dipping)
Instructions
- Spray the top and bottom of each tortilla lightly with the cooking spray, stacking the corn tortillas on top of each other.
- Use a sharp knife to cut the tortillas into pie-shaped wedges.
- Arrange the wedges in a single layer inside your air fryer basket. Try not to let the tortilla wedges overlap (you may need to cook the chips in two batches).
- Sprinkle the tops lightly with sea salt and taco seasoning (optional).
- Set the temperature of your air fryer to 350°F for 7-9 minutes. Keep an eye on them so they don’t burn. The chips will start to brown very slightly on the tops when they are done.
- Remove the chips to a cooling rack or serving plate. The chips will crisp up even more as they cool. Serve warm or at room temperature.
