Recipe Steps

There are two main methods for making juice at home. You can use a juicer or you can use a high-speed blender and then strain the juice using a fine mesh strainer, cheese cloth, or nut milk bag.

See below for details on making juice using either method.

Recipe FAQs

Can carrot juice turn your skin orange?

Yes, that can happen if you consume too much carrot juice. The reason is because carrot juice is so high in carotenoids, an antioxidant found in carrots. The change is skin tone is likely temporary, but you might want to ask your healthcare provider if it is safe for you.

What can I do with carrot juice pulp?

Discard the pulp or save it for another use (like in these Carrot Crackers). Or, use it in your compost or feed it to your chickens.

Is carrot juice high in sugar?

This carrot juice recipe has no added sugar. However, ingredients like carrots and oranges do have natural sugars. Natural sugars from fruits are generally okay for most people to consume and are part of a No Sugar Diet. However, you may wish to talk to your healthcare provider to make sure that juices and natural sugars are okay for you, especially if you have a history of blood sugar issues.

Here’s a delicious Carrot Juice Recipe that includes orange and ginger. Learn how to make this homemade carrot juice in about 15 minutes using a juicer or a blender.

  • Total Time: 15 minutes
  • Yield: 2

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 bunch carrots, scrubbed and rinsed (about 1 pound: 4 large carrots or 67 medium carrots)
  • 2 naval oranges, skins removed and cut into slices
  • 1 lemon, skin removed and cut into quarters
  • 1 1-inch piece of fresh ginger, skin removed

Instructions

  1. Feed the carrots, orange slices, lemon pieces, and ginger through a masticating juicer, alternating hard and soft ingredients for the optimal efficiency.
  2. Divide the juice between two glasses and serve immediately.

Notes

  1. BLENDER INSTRUCTIONS: Combine the ingredients into the base of a high-speed blender. You may need to include 1/4 – 1/2 cup of water to help the ingredients blender completely. Process on high for about 30-45 seconds. Pour the mixture through a nut milk bag, so that only the juice remains. Discard the pulp or save it for another use.
  2. Fresh juices should be consumed within 24 hours for the optimal nutrition. Store any leftovers in a tightly sealed container in the refrigerator.
  3. This recipe is very forgiving. You can make changes to the amount of ginger you use. Or, feel free to add other ingredients including celery, cucumber, or apple.
  4. You can also leave out the oranges, ginger, and lemon to make a pure 100% carrot juice with no other ingredients besides carrots.

Serving Suggestions

I like to serve this Carrot Orange Ginger Juice straight out of the juicer, just as you would other types of juice. However, this juice also makes an excellent base for a blended fruit and vegetable smoothie!

You can also freeze the juice in ice cube trays and either blend the frozen carrot juice cubes or let them defrost and serve as juice later on.

Carrie’s Nutrition Notes

This simple carrot juice recipe is a great way to support your eye health, immune system, and healthy skin. Juice made from fresh carrots and other simple ingredients is high in beta carotene, an antioxidant which can fight free radicals.

Feel free to adapt this recipe to your liking. Don’t like ginger? Feel free to leave it out. Or, if you are serving this juice to kids, you can also leave out the ginger and lemon. See my related Orange Lemon Ginger Juice recipe that doesn’t have carrots.
