These adorable Grinch Fruit Kabobs are a healthy holiday-themed treat that can be served at parties or school events. This is an easy recipe that kids can help assemble. Make these for a festive holiday snack for Christmas.
It’s great to get kids into the kitchen, especially during the Christmas season. Your kiddos will have those memories with you for the rest of their lives.
These Christmas Grinch fruit kabobs are easy and fun to assemble. They’re also much healthier than the indulgent Christmas cookies and treats we love so much. Try assembling them while watching the Grinch movie. It doesn’t get more festive than making Grinch kabobs while watching The Grinch!
Perfect for holiday parties, this whole foods recipe is naturally gluten-free and dairy-free.
It’s simply fruit and mini marshmallows threaded onto a skewer to mimic the Grinch wearing a Santa hat. Toddlers and even older kids love this fun and healthy snack.
Why You Need This Recipe
- They are a clean, festive treat. Kids love to help make them.
- These sweet treats are easy to make with no cooking required.
- Perfect for a Christmas party during the holiday season, this is a simple recipe and fun idea.
Key Ingredients
- Banana – Sliced banana is used for the bottom of Grinch’s Santa hat.
- Pineapple juice – Pineapples are highly acidic. This will prevent the banana from oxidizing and thus turning brown. If you have a pineapple allergy, you can skip this step or use lemon juice, orange juice, or lime juice in place of the pineapple juice. If you choose to skip it altogether, make them right before eating to keep them fresh.
- Grapes – Be sure to buy green grapes since the Grinch is green and not red.
- Strawberries – Look for strawberries that are bright red. They make perfect Santa hats for our Grinch kabobs. Carefully cut off the green tops and set aside.
- Mini marshmallows – Mini marshmallows look just like the top of a Santa hat. If you follow a gluten-free diet, be sure to check the ingredients list first. Dandie’s are both vegan and gluten-free (see my full article about answering the question Are Marshmallows Dairy-Free).

Recipe Steps
Let me show you how to make these Santa Kabobs (also known as Christmas Grinch Kabobs) for your next holiday party.
Or, make it today as a fun activity and healthy treat.
Step One
Place the banana slices on a small plate or in a bowl. Use a pastry brush to brush each banana slice with pineapple juice. This will keep the banana from browning as it sits.
Please see the recipe card at the end of this post for the exact ingredients and measurements.
Step Two
Assemble each kabob by threading on a grape, banana slice, strawberry (with the wide end facing down), and a marshmallow. Be sure to do it in this order, so it looks like a Grinch.
Step Three
Store the kabobs in an airtight container in the refrigerator until you’re ready to serve them.
Step Four
Serve chilled or at room temperature.
Recipe Tips
- You will need wooden toothpicks or skewers to make the kabobs.
- You can easily double, triple, or quadruple this recipe to make enough kabobs for a larger gathering.
- If serving these kabobs to children, be careful of the choking hazard when using toothpicks.
- For a tasty dip, serve with vanilla or strawberry yogurt.
- If skewers make you nervous with kiddos around, you can use lollipop sticks instead. It will be a little bit more difficult to assemble, but nobody will get poked!
- For gluten-free and vegan diets, use Dandie’s mini marshmallows.
Recipe FAQs
Yes, but it’s best not to make them more than two days ahead of time. The fruit will lose its freshness the longer it sits in the fridge. If possible, assemble them on the same day you eat them for the best results.
Try an apple slice, pineapple slice, or any fruit that is neutral in color.
