Watermelon Mint Juice Recipe
This delicious Watermelon Mint Juice is such an easy and refreshing summertime beverage. It’s naturally sweet and hydrating with no added sugar. Learn how to make it in a juicer or a blender.
If you’ve never had fresh watermelon juice, then you are in for a real treat! This recipe is perfect for special diets because it’s vegan, gluten-free, paleo, and made with no added sugar.
Because of its high carotenoid and lycopene content, watermelon can also act as a natural sunscreen. It’s the perfect summertime fruit, and you’re going to love how easy it is to transform the fruit into juice.
Most fruit juice recipes use simple syrup or added sugars. This recipe doesn’t include any added sugars and relies on the natural sweetness of the watermelon.
Why You Need This Recipe
- Make this watermelon juice recipe in a blender or a juicer. Either way, you’ll get a smooth and absolutely fantastic-tasting juice that doesn’t need any sugar.
- Each serving of this delicious juice has approximately 60 calories and 20% of the recommended daily intake of Vitamin C. You’ll also get some vitamin A in the form of beta-carotene. It’s a nourishing perfect summer drink that you can feel good about serving to your friends and family.
- This easy recipe is a great way to use up leftover extra watermelon that is sitting in your fridge.
Key Ingredients
Fresh seedless watermelon makes the base of the juice. Pick a melon that is heavy for its size. This will help ensure you get the sweetest and ripest watermelon that you can.
Fresh mint adds tons of amazing flavor and balances the natural sweetness of the fruit. Mint is on my list of the best vegetables to juice!
Fresh lime also balances the sweet flavor and helps add brightness to the juice. I also love using lime in my Kiwi Juice recipe.
Recipe Steps
If you have a decent blender, preferably a high-speed blender, you can make watermelon juice in 15 seconds. You don’t need to add water or anything, you simply just blend the watermelon chunks until they are liquified.
This recipe is made a little bit fancy by adding the juice of a fresh lime and some fresh mint leaves. The lime juice (you can also use a little lemon juice) adds brightness and helps balance the watermelon flavor. The fresh mint rounds out the flavors and makes this Watermelon Juice absolutely scrumptious.
On a hot day, there’s nothing like this drink that is essentially a Watermelon Mint Agua Fresca.
Step One
Chill your watermelon in the refrigerator. Then, cut it in half and cut off the rind. Cut the watermelon flesh of half of the watermelon into large chunks. Store the other half of the watermelon for another use.
Step Two
Combine the watermelon chunks, lime juice, and fresh mint in the base of your blender.
Step Three
Blend the watermelon chunks until they are liquified. This should only take between 15-30 seconds in a good blender.
Step Four
Pour the juice through a fine mesh strainer into a large bowl. This will get rid of any pulp from the watermelon.
Serve the watermelon immediately, or store it in the refrigerator until you are ready to serve.
Feel free to add ice cubes or serve your simple watermelon juice with a lime slice or watermelon slice.
Recipe Tips & Substitutions
- JUICER INSTRUCTIONS: if you prefer to use a juicer instead of a blender, simply cut the watermelon into pieces that will fit through the feeding tube of your juicer. Then, feed the pieces into the juicer, including the mint and lime pieces as well. Serve immediately.
- Use a seedless watermelon so you don’t have to pick out the black seeds. The white seeds are okay to include as they are flavorless.
- Also, look for a juicy watermelon in season that is heavy for its size.
- For an adult beverage that makes delicious cocktails, add a shot of vodka to your serving for an instant Watermelon Mojito (don’t forget to serve it with some muddled mint in your favorite glass; see my recipe for Watermelon Vodka Cocktail).
- Freeze any leftover juice into an ice cube tray to make watermelon cubes.
Recipe FAQs
No, you don’t, but it will be a little bit thick if you don’t strain it.
You can include a bit of the watermelon rind, but I wouldn’t use too much of it for fear that the juice may turn bitter.
In general, cut watermelon should be consumed within 5 days of cutting it. Cut watermelon is bad if it appears moldy or has dry spots within the pink flesh. Watermelon has gone bad if it smells bad or has obvious mold.
According to the FDA, cut watermelon will last up to 2 hours unrefrigerated. After that, any cut fruit including watermelon should be place in a container with a lid and put into the refrigerator. Cut watermelon in a covered container will last up to 4 days in the fridge.
In North America, watermelon season typically runs from June – October.

Besides making lots of delicious dinners, I’ve requested a vegan meal for my flight to and from London on Virgin Atlantic and at my cousin’s wedding reception. Yay to both of them for accommodating vegans!
That’s great, Susan! I’m taking an international flight at the end of the year and have requested my vegan meals, too. I’m trying not to get my hopes up, though, I plan to take a lot of snacks with me. Have a fantastic trip!
I signed my husband and I up for a CSA share for the first time this summer, and I’m looking forward to seeing how creative I can get with all the fresh vegetables we will be picking up every week.
Pic looks great! My summer are simple. Go to our local farmers market every week and eat less and less and animal products! I lOve your recipes and inspiration. I am an especially huge fan of smoothies with everything but the kitchen sink.
This summer I am giving cooking lessons to a few friends, more specifically how to prepare plant-based meals on a budget! I’m sure your recipes will be utilized 🙂 This book sounds great, thanks for the recommendation! I will probably pick a copy up if I am not selected as a winner.
This summer we are headed to Animal Acres to teach our kids about the animals that we DON’T eat in our family! I have been wanting to go forever and cannot wait! By the way, your hair looks adorable!
You look like you are in your mid-late 20s . . . but your wisdom, insights and healthful lifestyle would make me think you are probably in your 30s? If you are in your 40s, then whack me with broccolini! You look like you are still in undergrad school.
Ha ha! I won’t be whacking you with any broccolini, but let’s see if anyone else hazards a guess and then I’ll tell you.
Geesh, I forgot to mention my vegan idea for the summer. I used to love cold 3 bean salad – the kind with kidney, garbanzo, green beans, wax beans, onion, bell pepper, vinegar, sugar and spices. So, I’m going to try to make it ETL – without sugar – so experimenting to get some of that sweet with dates, date sugar or balsamic vinegar or beets. I don’t really know, but that’s a goal for this summer – Make ETL friendly 3 bean salad.
Lilly, if you make a good version of this salad, please let me know! It is one of my husband’s favorites but I have yet to make him one that tastes good without all of the sugar. I love your idea of using the other types of sweeteners, I think you are onto something! 🙂
Oh, I forgot to tell you. I’ve been reading the Clutter busting book and it is terrific. Looking forward to the life-changes to come from putting it into practice.
Yay, so glad you like it, Lilly!
You look FABULOUS!!! You are hatching like a spring chick! So happy for you, Carrrie!
Ohhhh, sounds fun Amanda! 🙂
