How to Juice Beets in a Juicer
Using a juicer makes beet juice quick and easy while keeping all the nutrients intact.
Steps:
- Wash the beets (I like to use a sponge or scrubber to get off any tough dirt).
- Cut the beets into chunks small enough to fit through the juicer chute (I like masticating juicers better than centrifugal juicers).
- Turn on the juicer and slowly feed the beet pieces through.
- Alternate with other ingredients like apples or carrots to improve extraction.
- Stir the juice before serving.
- Drink immediately or store in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 48 hours (just give the jar a shake if the juice separates).
How to Juice Beets in a Blender
If you don’t have a juicer, a blender works just as well with a few extra steps.
Try to use a high-speed blender or high-powered blender like a Vitamix that can really blend the produce.
You can also refer to my detailed guide on How to Juice With a Vitamix.
Steps:
- Wash the beets, then chop them into small pieces.
- Add them to the blender with ½ to 1 cup of water.
- Blend on high until smooth.
- Pour the mixture through a fine mesh strainer, nut milk bag, or cheesecloth over a large bowl.
- Use a spoon to press out as much juice as possible from the pulp.
- Discard the remaining leftover pulp and serve the delicious juice fresh!
Tips for Juicing Beets
- Beets are naturally sweet and pair really well with fruits like citrus, ginger, or even berries. They also can go with veggies like celery or cucumber, so feel free to get creative.
- Consider wearing disposable gloves when handling raw beets as they can turn your hands red.
- Drink immediately for the best nutrient retention or store in an airtight jar for up to 24 hours in the fridge.
