4th of july fruit kabobs with strawberries, blueberries, and jicama

Recipe Highlights

My friend Janet makes this recipe every year at the 4th of July, so I re-made them to share with you!

This recipe is:

  • healthy,
  • gluten-free,
  • vegan/vegetarian,
  • and so fun to make and eat.

The berries are seasonal and so festive, and the jicama adds extra crunch.

Recipe Steps

For this easy appetizer, finger food, or side dish, you just need to have some colorful foods on hand.

For the red, I chose strawberries. For a savory version, you could use red bell pepper slices or cherry tomatoes.

For the white, I used cubed jicama. You could also use pear, apple, honeydew melon, or white onion as a savory option.

For the blue, I used blueberries, but you could use purple grapes or olives.

Step One

Gather up your red, white, and blue ingredients.

You’ll also need some skewers, either stainless steel skewers or wooden bamboo skewers.

Step Two

To assemble these patriotic fruit kabobs, you literally just chop your fruit or vegetables to a similar size, and then assemble them on your skewers.

Then, when you’re ready to serve, just pop them onto a plate with some cocktail napkins and you’re good to go.
