Celery Juice Recipe (Juicer or Blender)
Here’s an easy Celery Juice Recipe that is nourishing, fresh, and delicious, with directions for making it in a juicer or a blender. Fresh celery juice is a nourishing beverage that you can drink in the morning or at any time of day. I share my best tips on how to make it taste good!

Drinking celery juice on an empty stomach is one of the hottest health trends. And, for good reason as it is rich in minerals like potassium and sodium. I’ve been making homemade celery juice since 2012.
You might think that the best celery juice is made from just celery. But, celery juice made from 100% celery is pretty intense. In this blog post, I share my secret for making celery juice that actually tastes good!
Celery Juice Ingredients

Celery juice is made from fresh organic celery stalks. Celery is part of my Clean Eating Shopping List and is also on my list of the vegetables for picky eaters. You’ll need about one bunch of celery to make a batch of celery juice.
I also like to use a fresh peeled lime in my juice to help balance the flavor of the juice. This is my secret tip for making celery juice that is actually tasty to drink.
Step-By-Step Instructions

Step One: Grab two bunches of celery and cut off the base and the top of the stalks. Wash them gently in a colander.

Step Two: Chop the celery stalks into thirds and place them in the base of a blender.
Or, if using juicer, run the produce through the feeding tube or the juicer.

Step Three: Add 1/2 cup of water and put on the lid. Blend until smooth, using the tamper to push the celery into the blades if necessary.

Step Four: Place a clean nut milk bag over the mouth of a pitcher and pour the blended celery through the nut milk bag. Use your hands to squeeze the celery juice through the bag.
Whether you use a juicer or a blender to make your fresh celery juice, it’s best to serve it right after making it for the optimal nutrition.
I hope you agree that this is one of your favorite green juices. While it does have an acquired taste, this fresh juice is full of essential minerals and can be therapeutic as well.

Recipe FAQs
I haven’t tried making celery juice in a regular blender as opposed to a high-speed blender, but I’m sure it will work. If you want to try it, I would suggest chopping your celery into 1-inch pieces and adding at least 1/2 cup of water. Blend for at least a minute before straining the celery juice. Not surprisingly, it tastes like celery. If you don’t like the taste of celery, you most certainly will not like the taste of this drink. I am a fan of the flavor, but sometimes I’ll juice a peeled lime (or lemon) and maybe an apple for added sweetness and brightness.
Yes, I like to add a peeled lime and a chopped green apple. The other ingredients make the juice so much more palatable. But, according to the Medical Medium, you should only use celery. So, it depends on what your goals are.
Yes, celery juice can cause diarrhea in some people. If that occurs, try drinking a much smaller amount the next day and work up the amount you drink. Consult your medical practitioner if your diarrhea continues.
Fresh celery juice may also cause some bloating until your body adjusts to the fiber that remains in the juice. The bloating should lessen or stop after your digestive tract adjusts.

Ingredients
- 2 bunches of celery
- 1 lime, skin removed (optional, for better taste)
- 1/2 cup water, if using a blender to make the juice
Instructions
- Prep the celery for juicing by chopping off the base and tops of the stalks of both bunches.
- Place the celery stalks into a colander in your sink. Wash the celery and pat it dry.
- If using a juicer, run the celery and lime through the feeding tube of juicer.
- If using a blender, add the celery stalk and lime to the pitcher. Add 1/2 cup of water to help get the blender started. Use your tamper to push the celery stalks into the blade. Pour the blended celery through the nut milk bag or strainer so remove the pulp from the juice. Serve immediately and discard the pulp.
- Serve the juice immediately, or keep any leftovers in an airtight jar in the refrigerator. Consume within 3 days of juicing.
Notes
- The Medical Medium says that you should not use anything else with the celery for optimal health, but I find using the juice of one lime makes the celery juice taste so much better.
- Use organic celery if possible.

Celery Juicing Tips
- Consider buying organic celery if you can, since celery is often sprayed with pesticides and is on the Dirty Dozen list. See my list of fresh celery substitutes if you don’t have celery.

Thanks, Nick! There is no scientific evidence of that. I try to keep it pretty pure, but the extra lime helps the flavor soooo much. And, adds some extra vitamin C!

you should absolutely add nothing at all to the juice!!!!!!!!!!!!!
it really interferes with the healing properties of the juice! Those ingredients may be great or desirable great by themselves but should NOT be mixed with the celery juice. This is really important!
I drink it, regardless whether it’s a little bitter or sweeter, depending on the stalks I get.
I tried putting my celery in my vitamix but it was awful and tried to get the juice put thru cheese cloth- what a mess and all I got was a half glass of juice!
Darn! Sorry to hear that. I find it much easier to use a nut milk bag with an elastic top than cheesecloth.
