Watermelon Mint Juice Recipe
This delicious Watermelon Mint Juice is such an easy and refreshing summertime beverage. It’s naturally sweet and hydrating with no added sugar. Learn how to make it in a juicer or a blender.
If you’ve never had fresh watermelon juice, then you are in for a real treat! This recipe is perfect for special diets because it’s vegan, gluten-free, paleo, and made with no added sugar.
Because of its high carotenoid and lycopene content, watermelon can also act as a natural sunscreen. It’s the perfect summertime fruit, and you’re going to love how easy it is to transform the fruit into juice.
Most fruit juice recipes use simple syrup or added sugars. This recipe doesn’t include any added sugars and relies on the natural sweetness of the watermelon.
Why You Need This Recipe
- Make this watermelon juice recipe in a blender or a juicer. Either way, you’ll get a smooth and absolutely fantastic-tasting juice that doesn’t need any sugar.
- Each serving of this delicious juice has approximately 60 calories and 20% of the recommended daily intake of Vitamin C. You’ll also get some vitamin A in the form of beta-carotene. It’s a nourishing perfect summer drink that you can feel good about serving to your friends and family.
- This easy recipe is a great way to use up leftover extra watermelon that is sitting in your fridge.
Key Ingredients
Fresh seedless watermelon makes the base of the juice. Pick a melon that is heavy for its size. This will help ensure you get the sweetest and ripest watermelon that you can.
Fresh mint adds tons of amazing flavor and balances the natural sweetness of the fruit. Mint is on my list of the best vegetables to juice!
Fresh lime also balances the sweet flavor and helps add brightness to the juice. I also love using lime in my Kiwi Juice recipe.
Recipe Steps
If you have a decent blender, preferably a high-speed blender, you can make watermelon juice in 15 seconds. You don’t need to add water or anything, you simply just blend the watermelon chunks until they are liquified.
This recipe is made a little bit fancy by adding the juice of a fresh lime and some fresh mint leaves. The lime juice (you can also use a little lemon juice) adds brightness and helps balance the watermelon flavor. The fresh mint rounds out the flavors and makes this Watermelon Juice absolutely scrumptious.
On a hot day, there’s nothing like this drink that is essentially a Watermelon Mint Agua Fresca.
Step One
Chill your watermelon in the refrigerator. Then, cut it in half and cut off the rind. Cut the watermelon flesh of half of the watermelon into large chunks. Store the other half of the watermelon for another use.
Step Two
Combine the watermelon chunks, lime juice, and fresh mint in the base of your blender.
Step Three
Blend the watermelon chunks until they are liquified. This should only take between 15-30 seconds in a good blender.
Step Four
Pour the juice through a fine mesh strainer into a large bowl. This will get rid of any pulp from the watermelon.
Serve the watermelon immediately, or store it in the refrigerator until you are ready to serve.
Feel free to add ice cubes or serve your simple watermelon juice with a lime slice or watermelon slice.
Recipe Tips & Substitutions
- JUICER INSTRUCTIONS: if you prefer to use a juicer instead of a blender, simply cut the watermelon into pieces that will fit through the feeding tube of your juicer. Then, feed the pieces into the juicer, including the mint and lime pieces as well. Serve immediately.
- Use a seedless watermelon so you don’t have to pick out the black seeds. The white seeds are okay to include as they are flavorless.
- Also, look for a juicy watermelon in season that is heavy for its size.
- For an adult beverage that makes delicious cocktails, add a shot of vodka to your serving for an instant Watermelon Mojito (don’t forget to serve it with some muddled mint in your favorite glass; see my recipe for Watermelon Vodka Cocktail).
- Freeze any leftover juice into an ice cube tray to make watermelon cubes.
Recipe FAQs
No, you don’t, but it will be a little bit thick if you don’t strain it.
You can include a bit of the watermelon rind, but I wouldn’t use too much of it for fear that the juice may turn bitter.
In general, cut watermelon should be consumed within 5 days of cutting it. Cut watermelon is bad if it appears moldy or has dry spots within the pink flesh. Watermelon has gone bad if it smells bad or has obvious mold.
According to the FDA, cut watermelon will last up to 2 hours unrefrigerated. After that, any cut fruit including watermelon should be place in a container with a lid and put into the refrigerator. Cut watermelon in a covered container will last up to 4 days in the fridge.
In North America, watermelon season typically runs from June – October.

Hi Carrie! Your hair looks great.
In the colder months, I can’t ingest anything cold like smoothies and ice cream because then I freeze my butt off. Now that it’s summer, I am having those every single day and loving life for it! My favorite is chocolate cherry ice cream, made with frozen cherries, a frozen banana, cocoa powder and a little non-dairy milk. Add more milk and you get a chocolate cherry smoothie. : ) SO divinely delicious.
Hope I win the book! I’ve been reading about it and it looks great.
You look awesome Carrie – it’s nice to enjoy the way you look. I find most women (myself included) tend to spend too much time being critical of our own appearances. It’s so liberating to feel healthy and confident.
I’m excited about the watermelon tip! I always felt bad about tossing the rinds.
Regarding the age comment above – you’ve always looked to me like you are in your mid twenties, but now I am not so sure.
You look fantastic! I took back some items I didn’t need from a couple of stores. Got refunds and made my closet much easier to walk into. Thanks for the inspirations on getting rid of clutter. This summer I’m working on increasing my variety of vegetables I get from farmer’s market. So far I’ve tried a new kind of avacado – yummy and introduced beets to the boys.
I plan on trying new veggies this summer that I haven’t tried before.
I joined a local CSA, plan to shop at farmers market this summer and try different veggies!
Just received 2 huge sheets of kale leaves from my CSA, so kale chips is going to have to happen soon!! 😀
Thanks Laura! Your trip looks amazing and so adventurous! Do you hike a lot throughout the year so prepare for such a trip? I think it’s a good idea that you bring your own snacks. I am taking a trip at the end of the year and I’m going to have to bring a lot of my own food so I don’t starve either, ha ha.
Ummm I wish I could say I have hiked a lot to prepare for this trip but sadly I have not. Part of the reason I picked this tour company though is because they said no prior outdoor experience was necessary, and although I do have some, I am not a camping or hiking specialist by any means. They do recommend that you exercise or stay active, which I do, so hopefully I won’t be too sore! The hikes are apparently no more than 4-5 hours at a time and they do transport us by van between each major area.
Do you have any recommendations for specific snack recipes (yours or others’) that will keep well while traveling and not require refrigeration?
Where is your trip?
Hi Laura! Well, that’s good that they say that no prior experience outdoor is necessary. It sounds really fantastic. My trip is to Southeast Asia at the end of this year. I will also be using a tour company. I’ve been thinking a lot about the food I am going to take. I bought a Magic Bullet (small blender) that I’m going to bring along with protein powder. I hope to make simple fruit-based breakfasts. I also plan to take plenty of Larabars or something similar and probably nuts, chia seeds and flax seeds. It’s scary because I’m a little worried about finding healthy, vegan food, but I also don’t want my fear to limit seeing the world and having new experiences. I’m going to do my best. 🙂
I had no idea you could juice the watermelon rind, either! Now that you told us that, one thing I’ll be making this summer is watermelon juice!
Love the blonder locks!
I hope to be able to hear Victoria speak this weekend at an event in Houston.
I AM in the US at the moment, and do have a US address, if that qualifies me to enter! 🙂
Thanks Gina!!! I wish I had a green thumb, I’d love to grow my own kale. Thanks for the sweet comments, too. 🙂
Hi Alexandra! Wow, I’m surprised that there aren’t tons of vegan options at your school, that’s too bad! I suppose making your own food is healthier in the long run, though, not to mention more cost-effective. Do you like kale salad? It’s pretty easy to assemble and it gets better as it sits in the fridge.
