Cooking chicken that is moist and full of flavor has never been easier than using the Instant Pot.

Most of us think about using the slow cooker to make tender chicken dishes, but I recommend using the pressure cooker to save time on busy weeknights.

Not only can you meal prep to make a healthy meal, but the moisture gets trapped inside the pot so you don’t have to worry about dried and boring chicken. These Instant Pot recipes will satisfy the whole family!

I recommend getting the 6-quart Instant Pot Duo if you don’t have one yet (you can also see my post on how to use the Instant Pot Duo if you’re new to using an electric pressure cooker.

The possibilities are endless for making healthy and delicious meals at home.

FAQs About Instant Pot Chicken Recipes

Can I use the quick release when cooking chicken in the Instant Pot?

It really just depends on the recipe. As long as the cook time is long enough at high pressure to cook the chicken through, then you can likely use the quick release. But, again, check the specific recipe or recipe card for the cooking time and directions. Some recipes use the natural release for at least 5 minutes.

Can I cook chicken and vegetables at the same time in the pressure cooker?

Some vegetables can be cooked with the chicken for a one-pot meal, especially denser veggies like potatoes, carrots, and squash. More delicate vegetables like broccoli and greens may need to be cooked separately or added later to ensure they don’t get overcooked.

Can I use chicken broth to cook chicken?

Yes! Most recipes will require at least one cup of chicken broth or chicken stock to ensure that the pot can come up to pressure. Always be sure to add enough liquid to the bottom of the pot. Chicken broth will help you make the most flavorful chicken.
