Air Fryer Soft Boiled Eggs
Use your air fryer to easily and efficiently make Air Fryer Soft Boiled Eggs. The white gets cooked through and the egg yolk is soft and yummy. Everyone loves this classic breakfast dish!
If you’ve never had soft boiled eggs, you’re in for a real treat. The eggs are simmered until the whites are cooked. For soft-boiled eggs, the yolks are still golden, soft, and creamy (as opposed to hard-boiled eggs where the yolks are cooked through)
In this air fryer version, the eggs are cooked for eight minutes and then placed directly into an ice bath. You don’t have to babysit the stove or wonder if the yolks will harden. Air fryer soft boiled eggs come out perfectly every time with little effort.
Soft boiled eggs are delicious on their own, but they’re a tasty addition to any dish. Add them to salads, ramen, roasted vegetables, toast, or grits for a creamy element. These jammy eggs with a soft yolk add so much flavor with only one ingredient!
Air Fried Soft Boiled Egg Recipe Benefits
- The air fryer simplifies the process for perfect eggs – no more overcooked eggs.
- No need to watch your stovetop, just set the timer and wait.
- Soft boiled eggs add delicious protein to any dish. You only need one ingredient – eggs! Not including the ice and water, of course.
Recommended Ingredients
- Eggs – Fresh eggs are an excellent source of protein and healthy fat. They’re also cost-effective! This recipe makes four soft boiled eggs but you can add as many eggs that fit into your air fryer. Be sure to give the eggs a little bit of space between them so the hot air can circulate. You may also like my recipes for Pesto Eggs and Over-Medium Eggs.
- Ice cubes & water – Ice and water will make the water bath to shock the eggs, and prevent them from overcooking. This is important to keep the yolks jammy and not hard.
See the recipe card at the end of this post for the exact cooking temperature and time.
Recipe Steps
Step One
Place the eggs in a single layer in the basket of your air fryer, leaving space between them.
Please see the recipe card at the end of this post for the exact ingredients and measurements.
Step Two
Set the time to 270°F for 8 minutes.
Step Three
In a medium bowl, combine the ice and water to make an ice bath.
When the cooking time is up, use a large serving spoon to carefully transfer the cooked eggs to the ice water bath.
Step Four
Let the eggs sit in the ice bath for just 1-2 minutes to stop the cooking process.
Then, place each egg in a serving cup. Carefully remove about the top inch of the peel of each egg. Enjoy the egg with a spoon or dip toast into your runny dippy egg.
Alternatively, you can peel the eggs and cut them in half lengthwise, then add to any dish you please!
I love adding these eggs to avocado toast, egg salad sandwiches, or on a cobb salad. This easy air fryer recipe also makes a perfect quick snack.
I hope you agree that these air fryer eggs are the absolute easiest way to make them. It’s perfect for meal prep or for a quick breakfast.
Recipe Tips
- You can easily double or even triple this recipe depending on how big your air fryer basket is. For best results, try to leave a little space between each egg in the basket and do not overlap the eggs.
- I used large eggs straight from the refrigerator. If you eggs are at room temperature, then you may need to reduce the cook time by 1-2 minutes.
- Soft boiled eggs are best served right after they are made.
- Some air fryer models needs to be preheated. Please refer to the owner’s manual of your particular model to see if you need to preheat it before using.
- Also, please note that air fryers vary from air fryer model to model. If you think your air fryer runs hot, then you may want to reduce the cooking time for these eggs to just 7 minutes. Then, cut the end off one egg to see if the white is cooked through. If the egg white is still runny, then place the egg back into the basket and cook for 1-2 minutes longer (you can prop up the egg that you opened with a little ball of aluminum foil so the egg doesn’t spill).
- Don’t cut the eggs open until ready to eat! This way they won’t form a crust on the egg yolk. Store any leftovers in an airtight container for up to 5 days.
Recipe FAQs
If you want the egg yolks to be jammy but slightly firm, you can add two minutes to the cook time. Air fry the eggs for ten instead of eight minutes.
No, for this recipe use cold eggs from the refrigerator. This is how I’ve tested this recipe, and results may vary with room temperature eggs.

I learned something new today. I learned that I’ve been spent long neverending lifetimes waiting for water to boil. I learned that I can just put my eggs, still shelled, straight into the air fryer for 10 min and get my hard boiled eggs for my Tuna Salad FASTER. DEF can’t put them in the microwave in the shell for 10 min………. I AM WINNING!
Woot!
Didn’t know eggs could be cooked in the shell, in the airfrier!
So do you need to put the eggs in a pre-heated air fryer or just put them in a cold one and then start to cook for 8mins?
I’ll never make soft boiled eggs any other way!
